Also there were stray dogs and cats everywhere. They aren't aggressive to people in fact when we went on a walk we eventually gathered an entourage of 3 dogs. All cute and just up for a walk with us.
Neptune's Villa Hotel
Our first hotel was a great little hotel with bungalows. They also had normal hotel rooms but it was fun to have the experience. Rooms would be more comfortable but this was a little different. The shower water pressure wasn't great as with most places but you have warm water. They have a little porch area for you to chill out in the morning which my boyfriend made use of.
The best part was probably the pool. Really pretty and you could get nice drinks for decent. The internet wasn't fast but it was enough for us to watch Game of Thrones with a bit of pre-loading.
The location is a bit out of the way but further from the Full Moon Party so if you don't wanna be bothered by the noise throughout the night, this is a good distance. If you wanna be close to all the great restaurants then try to stay closer to the sunrise beach. Wear bug spray.
Phangan Island View Hotel
The room was pretty big and the bed was decent.
Act 1: Half Moon Party
Act 2: Panmas Kitchen - Thai Cooking Class
The other people there were vegetarians and she made alternatives for them, not just the meat but also used something other than fish sauce (which is in everything). She was very knowledgable and bought us a bunch of fruits to try as well. Good time and a great fun even if I never make these easy dishes again.
Act 3: Phangan Bicycle Tours
So the tour brought us all over the island and we met locals. I think the best part was our guide, Yut. He was friendly and helpful. He genuinely seemed to enjoy his job and he took us round like we were his friend he was showing around. He introduced us to locals and at the end when he was picking out foods at the night market with us, he started helping some of the stall sells stuff. He was obviously part of the community so it felt less like we were intruding.
The bikes were well maintained and the entire tour was wonderful. If you are on the island or another one, you should try to find a bike tour. This one was wonderfully run. I could feel the island hospitality. They even told us we could borrow a bike if they weren't around, for free, as long as we brought it back.
