Also there were stray dogs and cats everywhere. They aren't aggressive to people in fact when we went on a walk we eventually gathered an entourage of 3 dogs. All cute and just up for a walk with us.
I was so happy to get out of the Kamala area since it was so dead and we were so excited for the Half Moon Party. We had just missed the Full Moon Party but figured it would be just as good. We had even read that it was more organised. This part was probably my favourite in terms of relaxation. The weather was good and I really liked both of the hotels we stayed at.

Some how in a company where people don't take vacations for 2 years straight, I have managed to get myself 3 vacations in the year! It was the first time I traveled by myself and honestly, loved it. Quicky Review
Mostly, Japan was just more expensive Korea with better food and drivers. I really liked that
So clearly I have been doing some travelling but I haven't updated at all. Oops. Instead of doing an in depth adventure review, I have decided to do something that requires less work. Also I wouldn't be able to remember all the details anymore. So here they are in chronological order: KL, Malaysia; Seoraksan [SS], South Korea and Boracay[BC] /Manila, Philippines. Quicky Review
I was pretty excited about it being the first of February. The sun is out and it is slowly getting warmer. I get paid in 9 days and have an upcoming vacation to Malaysia in 17 days not to mention the Game of Thrones trailer that was recently released and the House of Cards season release date drawing closer (ready to binge watch through that).
I was going through some papers looking at the finances of this past year when I realised that today marks the day I left home and boarded a plane to move to a land where I didn't speak the language and started a job I have absolutely no experience (Sorry, I made it look like I did). Its hard to believe I am on the last term of my contract. The last 2 terms really flew by and in 13 weeks I'll be done! Crazy. This year so far has held so many firsts. I think I have become more independant and become more of a stable adult. Then again I have had more wild nights than ever before. Training week was my first College like experience since I never got to live in a dorm. This 1.5 week was the start to my adventure and the number of study sessions made it seem like we were in school. The after party was great and the celebration of passing was awesome. Though there was also cliques that developed, I got to meet some great people. First time having my own apartment, buying my own household items, sleeping on the floor for weeks before buying furniture. Having my fridge replaced because the other one didn't work and having plumbing fixed because apparently electrical tape doesn't hold water. Delicious food, of course. And getting blackout more times than I did the other 22 years of my life. Alcohol tolerance is up though! Coworkers have become great friends. Teaching has become so much easier than day 1. Relationship fights start and end sooner. Still some work to do but I think I've gotten to be a better girlfriend and I feel like I'm in a different kind of relationship compared to the previous ones. Having people VISIT me and crashing on my couch. More to come in 2015.

AuthorHello! I am Erika, English teacher in Hanoi. I had started my journey as a teacher in Korea but will continue until the kids drain all the life force in me. This is a blog to keep my friends and family informed as to what I am up to. I expect all of you to visit me. |
